Bacuseachi, Chihuahua
Hola! Last stop on my work trip was in the Tarahumara or Rarámuri indigenous community of Bacuseachi. We arrived driving about 2 hours on paved road from Creel (Chepe train stop) and another hour on dirt road into the canyon. Then after pulling off, we hiked another 1km up the canyon wall to the 11 home community. Many of the residents still use the traditional Rarámuri dress, which they sew from brightly colored fabrics. The original project here was to install fences (for the mountain goats) and plant orchards for food subsistence. But I took one look at the amazing scenary and wanted to visit. I´m betting other people would like to visit and hike around there too and hopefully we can get a Rural Community Tourism project off the grounnd there.
